Information on the history of the wine
Every time Pascale Jourdan and Christian Ott passed the solitary oak tree at the entrance to the winery, they were captivated by this magnificent oak tree. The presence of this centuries-old tree on such sandy soil promised the unique quality of a terroir. Twenty years later, they acquired this fascinating site to establish their winery. Pascale and Christian wanted to break free from conventions. Passionate winemakers to the extreme, for 25 years they have been creating unique and distinctive wines that thrive on an exceptional terroir. At Domaine Alône, they are now writing their own story. There, in complete freedom, they produce wines derived from natural viticulture. A small river, the Lône, flows alongside the winery. When you were looking for a name for the wine, we immediately thought of a play on words, adding an “a” to the river’s name: Alône—the English word for “alone”—perfectly illustrated your approach. Alône is also a reference to the great-grandfather of , who planted his vineyard in the South of France in 1896, alone and completely unknown.
Vineyard Details
Each vineyard is treated individually, with pruning that respects sap flow, foliar treatments based on trace elements, and fertilizers developed based on precise soil analyses. The Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah grapes are harvested by hand and chilled to prevent oxidation. The grape varieties are divided as follows: 68% Grenache – 25% Cinsault – 7% Syrah. The whole bunches are pressed, and the juice is crushed to extract color and aromas. Vinification then takes place plot by plot using indigenous yeasts. The wines are aged on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks, ceramic, and porcelain spheres, which bring out the purity of the fruit.
Color
Delicate apricot with lightening towards the rim.
Nose
The 2023 Alône Rosé has an enchanting aroma of peach, sweet light and red berries, and sour cherry flesh. The charming aroma of honeydew melon and a hint of almond and anise give it a seductive touch.
Palate
On the palate, it is juicy and powerful, its delicate fruit sweetness paired with zesty spice and invigorating acidity. The long finish is characterized by a salty note. The dishes that accompany this special wine are welcome to reflect the intensity of Provence. Enjoying it will definitely make you dream of this beautiful region.
