Product description for Albert Mann Pinot Gris Altenbourg, Le Tri, Sélection de Grains Nobles 2001
When Domaine Albert Mann awards a wine Le Tri, you can look forward to a particularly intense taste experience.
Colour
Sparkling, bright golden yellow.
Nose
The 2001 Tokay Pinot Gris Sélection de Grains Nobles Altenbourg “Le Tri” is the essence of a great sweet wine, and you can sense this directly in the nose: runny honey, candied quince, caramelized pears, dried apple slices, white nougat, and vanilla pulp flow seductively from the glass.
Palate
On the palate of the 2001 Tokay Pinot Gris Sélection de Grains Nobles Altenbourg “Le Tri,” you immediately detect the sweet fruit notes combined with a concentrated, multi-layered, and complex sweetness. The whole is accompanied by a salty minerality and a fine acidity. The finish seems endless.
Altenbourg
The gently sloping vineyard near Kientzheim lies at an altitude of 225 to 250 meters and directly below the Grand Cru Fürstentum. The soils are also characterized by limestone and sedimentary deposits, but considerably sandier. Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris are primarily cultivated here, which ripen very slowly here and often offer ideal conditions for great Vendages Tardives (Alsatian Late Harvest) and Selection de Grains Nobles (Dry Berry Selection).

Vinous
Score: 97
(12.3% alcohol, 153 g/l r.s. and 7.3 acidity) Enticing yellow-tinged gold color. High-toned aromas of quince jelly, mandarin orange, honey, vanilla and spicy oak; this has the powerful botrytis character to support the new oak treatment. Wonderfully viscous and liqueur-like, with extraordinarily concentrated, pure flavors of apricot, orange peel, pear confiture and honey, complemented by subtle oakiness. The extremely long, lightly toasty finish shows superb mouthwatering acidity and juicy cut. Also tasted: 2002 Gewurztraminer*.
