Product description for Albert Mann Outrevin AC 2023 (bio)
Domaine Albert Mann is the merger of two great winemaking families: the Mann family, who have been growing wine since the early 17th century, and the Barthelmé family, the current owners, who have been active in winemaking since 1654. Located in Wettolsheim on the Alsace Wine Route, each plot of the 25-hectare estate is individually cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles. The Outrevin is a Chasselas from a plot in Eguisheim that is over 50 years old. The grapes grow there with a south-southeast exposure on clayey limestone and marl layers. The grapes were selectively harvested by hand, and the must was fermented for two months in 750-liter clay amphorae. The subsequent malo is a deliberate stylistic device. The wine was bottled in late spring after minimal filtration.
Colour
Delicate apricot.
Nose
The 2023 Outrevin from Albert Mann plays the entire palette of yellow fruits and collaborating spices. Fully ripe apricots, small mangoes, green mandarin oranges, and dried apricots are underpinned by candied orange peel, pickled kumquats, and ginger. Floral overtones of lavender and flowering maquis spin the wheel and herald a rich sip from the amphora.
Palate
Rich on the palate, the Outrevin dresses the entire mouth with festive ornamentation. The finely polished tannin guides it gently along the edge of the tongue, buoyed by the finely chiseled acidity that makes it shine. With a slightly chubby nature, it is rich on the palate with an oily texture and reflects the entire aromatic kaleidoscope of the nose. Vanilla, milk chocolate and a touch of licorice sweeten its long finish.

The bright, antique-pink 2023 Outrevin is pure Pinot Noir fermented as a white in amphorae for six months. The nose is pure, fresh and finely saline and shows delicate Pinot fruit intertwined with fresh nettle nuances. Round and finely textured on the palate, this is a very charming and refreshing, intense but stimulating and aromatically persistent Pinot that also reveals fine tannins and a ripe, finely grained acidity structure. This is a serious and buoyant white that tastes like a red rather than a white wine. This is a great Blanc de Noirs from high-quality grapes. This joint venture between Antoine and his father, Jacky Barthelmé, was bottled slightly filtered and with 13% stated alcohol. 1,300 bottles made. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.

The 2023 Outrevin is a pure Pinot Noir directly pressed as white wine and aged in clay amphorae for 6 months. It is gold in hue with a touch of pink. The nose is citric, inviting, juicy and aromatic, like fresh Navel oranges. The palate adds a notion of melted butter and a gentle, fine, rich mouthfeel. This is very different, ready and bright.
