Product description for Albert Mann Gewürztraminer Steingrubler Grand Cru 2019 (bio)
The Wettolsheim Grand Cru Steingrubler vineyard faces southeast and is divided into the hillside and foothill vineyards, from which this Gewürztraminer originates. The Gewürztraminer grows there on calcareous sandstone soils and comes from vines that are over 30 years old.
Colour
Rich lemon yellow with green reflections, bright and clear.
Nose
The 2019 Gewurztraminer Steingrubler Grand Cru from Domaine Albert Mann presents itself in the glass like a drag queen: colourful, shimmering, and incredibly complex. Aromas of ripe tropical fruits mingle with local fruit and mild spices. Mango, fully ripe cantaloupe melons with candied orange peel, stewed quinces, and dried apricots sum up its fruit content, along with light spicy notes of mace, white pepper, and pale tobacco leaf. The nose is in constant flux, shifting from fruit to spice and vice versa. The magic of spice!
Palate
On the palate, the Steingrubler presents itself with a creamy melt, characterized by its 43 grams of residual sugar, which, however, is packaged more than casually here. With brilliant clarity and great precision, it combines its maturity with striking mineral notes and a more than disciplined presentation on the palate. The fruit is crystal clear, the sweetness congenially captured by the delicately tart phenolics of this ambrosial nectar. Independent and vital, it seems to vibrate with energy, and invites you to bring the glass to your lips again and again.

Wine Advocate
Score: 94
The 2019 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler is clear, deep, intense and smoky on the complex and expressive nose that shows dried fig aromas and flinty notes of crushed stones. Full-bodied, rich and opulent on the palate but also fine and persistently saline, this is an energetic and crystalline Steingrubler with a long and stimulating finish that shows caramelized white fruits but also has energetic vitality. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022.
