The Ministre Imperial represents the qualitative pinnacle of Comte Abbatucci’s red wines. The cuvée is based on the indigenous grape varieties Niellucciu, Sciaccarello, Morescono, Montanaccia, Carcajolo Nero, and Aléatico. After the entre, the must undergoes several weeks of maceration. Both punching and pouring over the pomace cap are regularly used. The wine is aged in conical foudres and, to a limited extent, in small oak barrels. After about a year, the wine is transferred to steel tanks and allowed to mature.

Colour

Bright purple with delicate violet reflections.

Nose

The nose draws directly from the Mediterranean’s blend of cool breezes and warm sunshine. Pure garrigue. Rosemary, lavender, thyme, and pine groves are intensely perceptible. Behind it lies a multitude of fruits: mulberry, cassis, raspberry, and elderberry. Hibiscus, along with violet and pansy, provide elegant, floral notes. Juniper and red pepper in the background. Melted milk chocolate spreads with a hint of cocoa and gently roasted coffee beans.

Palate

On the palate, it is extremely smooth. Fine as silk and completely dominated by minerality. Cool and full of finesse, it spreads a fruity carpet before us. The tannin is compact and kept in check. The pleasant bitterness complements the fruit congenially. This is very stimulating and benefits enormously from its salty character. In the middle, it fluctuates between compactness and soft, delicate features. The fruit comes across as subtly lactic, but always characterized by restraint and elegance. White pepper and hints of ethereal and spicy nuances dominate the finish. A very distinctive wine with character.
