Nose

Jean-Charles Abbatucci always composes this cuvée from Vermentinu and the rare varieties Brustiano, Bianco Gentile, Genovese, and Rossola Bianca from his father’s collection from the 1960s. Intense aromas of white and yellow blossoms, maquis herbs, and plenty of fruit such as cherimoya, fresh pears, and white peaches. This is then followed by a fine, fresh acidity, reminiscent of yellow gooseberries and mirabelle plums, as well as lightly sweetened lemons, grapefruit, and lemon zest. Very complex and with a hint of iodine.

Taste

Extremely intense and dense with a silky texture. A mouthwatering freshness paired with iodine and salt immediately emerges, releasing mineral tension, underscored by refined, peppery bitter notes reminiscent of almonds, but also grapefruit. With the fine acidity, aromas of lemons and lightly candied lemon zest appear, followed by notes of maquis and wild herbs. The energy and vibration released by the Diplomate are fascinating, making it a rare experience with its complexity, still characterized by youthful charm.
