Wine Information

Entre Palabras 2021 is an organically certified, single-varietal Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. The vines grow at an altitude of almost 800 meters on calcareous soils. This combination of altitude and soil helps preserve the grapes’ acidity. Just as the Valdemonjas winery generally focuses on freshness, virtually all of the winery’s wines are characterized by a straightforward, crisp, and precise style. Entre Palabras was fermented in steel and concrete tanks, and the red wine subsequently aged in oak barrels of various sizes.

Nose

On the nose, this wine is fresh and mineral, almost cool, with aromas of red rather than dark fruits. A hint of vanilla from the barrel aging also comes through in the bouquet, but the wood note is beautifully integrated and the overall balance is tip-top.

Palate

As in the nose, the minerality is also a hallmark of this wine on the palate. The fruit is crisp, the chalky tannins fine-grained and elegant. Despite its high concentration and intensity, this red wine is by no means opulent; rather, it has a taut draw, tension, and easy drinking flow. A certain youthful restraint is still noticeable, and the aromatics are perhaps still somewhat closed off. But this austerity also has its appeal, as it makes the wine appear very clearly contoured and defined. At this point, it is recommended to aerate this red wine.
