Wine Information

30 hectares of vineyards, spread across 17 plots near Jouques, located around 30 kilometers north of Aix-en-Provence under the protection of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, belong to Château Revelette. Le Grand Blanc 2021 is a blend of 65% Chardonnay, 17% Roussanne, 5% Ugni Blanc, 9% Sauvignon Blanc, and 4% Rolle. The grapes were destemmed, 30% fermented and aged in stainless steel at 18°C, 40% aged on their lees for ten months in one- to four-year-old barrels without SO2, but with regular bâtonnage, and the remaining 30% fermented and aged in 25-hl barrels. The wine was fermented spontaneously in each case. The pH is 3.32, the residual sugar is less than one gram, the acidity is 3.25 grams, and the total sulphur content is 54 mg/l.

Nose

Le Grand Blanc, Peter Fischer’s great white, continues to delight in its 21st vintage. The cuvée aromas of orange and almond blossom, ripe green and yellow pears. With aeration, the wine becomes fuller and reminiscent of yellow, but not yet overly ripe melons, grapefruit, and lemon zest. The vintage appears pleasantly light-bodied with all the southern aromas that the Grand Blanc undoubtedly possesses.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is noble and elegant with fine wood and herbal spice that blends excellently with the white-fleshed fruit. It tastes of pear cream, licorice, saffron, and cinnamon. The Sauvignon Blanc also brings ripe green notes and white berries into play. The acidity is southern-ripe, yet elegant and refined. It carries the full fruit of Le Grand Blanc admirably into a long finish.
