Wine Information
This is a cuvée made from 60% Grenache Gris and 40% Macabeo. After a few days of carbonic maceration, including stalk removal, the wine was pressed, further fermented in ceramic eggs, and aged there for eight months. Then, bottled without sulphur and without filtering, it was bottled.
Colour
: Bright, fairly transparent cherry red with subtle cloudiness.
Nose
El Carner is one of Tom Lubbe’s unusual cuvées, combining gray and white berries into a red wine. The wine is full of fruit, reminiscent primarily of ripe red berries, sweet cherries, cherry candies, and red peaches. It also has a slightly herbal and somewhat animal character.
Palate
On the palate, the wine seems to retain a little carbon dioxide from the maceration. It is dry and has a texture like fine sandpaper. Added to this is a stimulating acidity and ripe red fruit. This is an ideal summer red wine, which should be served slightly chilled, and whose texture works particularly well with food.
