Wine Information

This Pinot Noir comes from the Maustal vineyard, a four-hectare vineyard south of Sulzfeld am Main, facing south and southeast. The steep slope is characterized by the barren and skeletal Upper Muschelkalk. The vines from this site are the oldest vines planted by the winery. As always at the Zehnthof Luckert winery, the grapes are harvested by hand, followed by maceration in open fermentation tanks, spontaneous fermentation, no chaptalization, no cool pre-fermentation, around two weeks on the skins, and aging for over one and a half years in Burgundy barrels, one third of which are new. In 2022, the grapes were completely destemmed.

Colour

Muted garnet red with violet reflections.

Nose

The 2020 Maustaler Spätburgunder GG offers graphite and earthy notes as well as a still youthful and refreshing fruit reminiscent of sour cherries, wild raspberries, red currants, and pomegranate. Its fragrant, youthful character is femininely defined by distinct floral roses, ivy, and elderberry. Elegant and Burgundian finesse is evident even on the nose.

Palate

On the palate, it is dance-like, lively, and youthful. Its acidity is pleasantly fresh and challenging, the tannin structure is fine-grained and piquant, and the long finish promises great development potential. Anyone who wants to enjoy it at this youthful stage would do well to decant it.
