Wine Information

The entry-level wine of the same name from the fantastic Artuke winery is produced using carbonic maceration. This is the traditional production method in the Basque region of Rioja. Locally, it is referred to as a “Cosechero” wine. The style is deliberately fruity and uncomplicated, and the wine is intended for quick consumption. The Artuke 2022 consists of 95 percent Tempranillo and 5 percent white Viura. The grapes come from vineyards in the municipality of Baños del Ebro. The wine was aged in steel and concrete tanks.

Colour

Transparent purple with a violet rim.

Nose

The nose is characterized by red berry notes, without the fruit being overly prominent. Floral and mineral notes in the background provide good balance and variety.

Palate

The Artuke 2022 is characterized by a medium body, soft tannins, and a smooth, fresh acidity. The red wine is silky and light on the palate, pleasantly drinkable, and has already reached drinking maturity at a young age. Typical of Riojas with carbonic maceration, a light banana flavour also emerges. The beauty of this wine, however, is that it is not as fruity as many Cosechero wines from Rioja, but rather possesses a certain minerality and depth. Overall, a wine with very good value for money.
