Wine Information

The cuvée consists of approximately 60% Muscat d’Alexandrie, 30% Muscat à petit grains, and 10% Macabeu. The vineyard soils are characterized by slate and marl, surrounded by scrub and garrigue. The yield is only 18 hectoliters per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning hours into small 12 kg crates to ensure the grapes reach the winery fresh and intact. After pressing the whole bunches, the juice is fermented spontaneously in used 500-liter barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation and one year of aging on the full lees. Minimal sulfurization takes place at the end.

Color

Distinctly cloudy orange with coppery reflections.

Nose

A wine like a co-fermentation of Muscat and IPA. The Cuvée Marguerite initially presents aromas of Citra and Simcoe hops with elderflower, grapefruit, bergamot, mandarin orange, and currant. With increasing aeration, the wine becomes calmer and more settled, with notes of sea buckthorn, white tea, quince, and hay emerging.

Taste

On the palate, the maceration of the Cuvée Marguerite provides clear, fine tannins, a phenolic touch with a dry mouthfeel, and lively acidity. As the wine coats the palate, the texture changes, becoming increasingly softer and finer. The fruit is more subdued here, becoming somewhat stonier and more herbal with notes of grass, hay, anise, and fennel. Soft apricots, kumquat peel, and red apples are added. A distinctive, clear, juicy, and salty, mouthwatering wine with nimble lightness and aromatic depth.
