This Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine, made from the Melon de Bourgogne variety, comes from a vineyard planted in 1974 in the village of Vallet. The vineyard is characterized by mica schist and gneiss with inclusions of mica from the Armoricain Massif. The vineyard name is Vera Cruz. The hand-harvested grapes were pressed in a pneumatic press, with the force and duration of pressing adapted to the respective vintage. This was followed by spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, followed by fermentation and aging on the lees in underground, glass-lined cement cuvées for seven months. No racking until bottling.

Intense straw yellow with light green reflections

Nose

The 2022 Vera Cruz is a fresh wine that brings its origins very clearly to the glass. It smells of sea breeze, crisp green and yellow apples, greengages, and white peaches combined with slightly oily slate, a hint of pepper, and white blossoms.

Palate

On the palate, the Vera Cruz appears more powerful and slightly more exotic than the aroma, which is typical of this vineyard. The wine is reminiscent of mango spritzer, some wood and ripe pears, lemon oil, and rock, with the typical piquant acidity of Muscadet, with some phenolic and iodine notes on the finish.
