Information about the wine

Although the winery remains silent about the exact composition of the cuvée, the basis of this wine is evidently a Cuvée Blanc Tradition, which usually consists of one-third Savagnin and two-thirds Chardonnay. Both varieties are traditionally fermented and aged together in barrels. It is a vin de voile, meaning it is not topped up during storage. However, the wine appears significantly less oxidative than the 2018 Savagnin vin de voile. In this respect, topping up may have only been omitted sporadically, and only a light layer of flor has formed.

Colour

Golden yellow

Nose

The 2018 Cuvée Tradition smells of walnuts, dried figs, salted lemons, and salted almonds. Added to this are a few yellow plums and yellow, green, and crumbly apples, as well as a subtle hint of nougat and marzipan. You can certainly tell it’s Vin de Voile, but the oxidative quality is subtle.

Palate

On the palate, the Cuvée Tradition is fresh and juicy with a pleasant punch. It’s a wine with fine tannins and a silky texture, power and elegance, with successful ripeness in the fruit. Added to this is a distinct but perfectly fitting use of wood, which adds a touch of caramel to the dryness of the Vin de Voile. There’s a good amount of salt and umami, nuts and almonds, along with precise acidity. A great food accompaniment.
