65% Corvina, 25% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, grown on limestone at an altitude of 220-300m on the hills of Ilassi.

Aging Info

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is produced through the “appassimento” (shrinkage) process: the grapes are dried for 3-4 months on a drying rack (“fruttaio”). During the drying process, they lose 40-50% of their weight and all their substances become more concentrated. In January, the “pigiatura” (pressing) of the grapes is completed, and fermentation continues until summer. Aging is completed in French oak barriques and tonneaux for a period of between 42 and 50 months, followed by a year of bottle ageing.

Colour/Appearance

Intense garnet red, black at the core.

Nose

The 2015 Amarone Monte Tabor displays plump fruit of sweet black cherries, pickled blackberries, figs, dates, fine dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted rosemary. A very typical representative of its type, which, in addition to its fullness on the nose, suggests wonderful freshness and minerality.

Palate

With intense fruit and a charming, sweet fullness, it hits the tongue; at the same time, it is invigorating and elegant. This is thanks to its stimulating acidity and tannin structure, which lends it finesse and playfulness. An Amarone with class and depth, a perfect wine for the cooler autumn and winter seasons, simply wonderful with braised dishes and rich stews.
