Product description for de l’Enclos Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos AOC 2023

The wine comes from the Grand Cru Le Clos. The Bouchards own 0.67 hectares there, planted by their grandfather in 1964. The plot is located in the lower part of the hill, the historic heart of the Climat. After hand-harvesting on September 12, 2023, and slow whole-bunch pressing, the wine fermented spontaneously in used tonneaux and aged there for 13 months. This was followed by coarse filtration and light sulfurization. Bottling took place on November 21, 2024, at 79 mg/l.

Colour

Intense straw yellow

Nose

Even though this Grand Cru always requires a lot of time, the 2023 Les Clos already appears quite open and intense. It smells of flint, smoke, a touch of tobacco and wood, crushed rock, and petrichor. Added to this are notes of white blossoms and local fruit, especially apples and mirabelle plums, but also a hint of lemon peel.

Palate

On the palate, the Chablis Grand Cru is juicy, sensual, round, and once again surprisingly open. The ripe fruit seems to harbor a very subtle sweetness, which is extremely charming. Nevertheless, Le Clos possesses punch and plenty of freshness. The Grand Cru has depth, plays with a touch of tannin, and becomes salty and energetic towards the finish. This has a lot of potential.
