About the Wine

A cuvée of Chardonnay, Chenin, Merlot, Tannat, and Malbec with a yield of 40 hl/ha from micro-plots located at an altitude of 350 meters in the Clos with clay-limestone soils including Kimmerdige limestone from the Jura with a high fossil presence. After hand-picking, the grapes were directly pressed, followed by spontaneous fermentation and maceration. Aging took place for six months in a concrete cuvée. No clarification or filtration. No sulfur was added.

Color

Bright, semi-transparent ruby red.

Nose

Is this a rosé or claret, or a light red wine? In any case, a wild blend of Chardonnay, Chenin, Merlot, Tannat, and Malbec, which Emmanuel Rybinski has combined here to create a congenial fruit blend. It smells of cherries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and pomegranate juice, with a hint of yeast and rock dust.

Palate

On the palate, this is a wonderful Vin de Soif, definitely on the fruity side, gliding down the throat without resistance. Here, too, cherries and berries dominate, combined with a hint of grapefruit juice. Because no sulfites were added, the wine is open, inviting, and juicy with zero resistance. Best enjoyed slightly chilled!
