Nose

What an intense aroma wafts from the glass: sweet black Amarena cherries, pickled blueberries, fine dark chocolate, and dark plum jam combine with toffee, licorice, charcoal, and notes of coffee. The distinctive aroma is extremely charming and immediately seduces the senses. Wonderfully underpinned by plenty of minerality and a depth that is second to none.

Palate

Juicy fruit and sweetness pair with fine and ripe acidity on the tongue of the 2022 Bakkanali Fiorenzo, perfectly embedded in its melting texture and an invigorating yet ripe tannin structure. A wine for eternity, ideal as an accompaniment to intense cuisine. Its freshness and minerality revive spectacularly in the long finish. Be sure to decant and serve slightly chilled.

The 2022 Toscana Rosso Fiorenzo tempts the imagination: a bouquet of dried roses and violets inflected with stone dust and spice gives way to freshly picked strawberries. Medium-bodied yet graceful and silky in feel, the 2022 offers a stunning core of ripe cherry-berry fruits and crunchy mineral tones. It leaves a framework of sweet tannins, tapering off structured and long as resonances of tart wild berry and licorice fade slowly. The Fiorenzo hails from 18-year-old Sangiovese vines planted above 600 meters on Mount Amiata. It undergoes whole-bunch carbonic fermentation. Tasting this gets me very excited about the potential of this location. Nicely done.
