Wine Information

The Zöbing Eichelberg vineyard is located at 320 m above sea level and consists of weathered gneiss and mica schist. The climate is Pannonian, with a continental influence. The vines are 55 years old. They are Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Welschriesling, Roter Riesling, Roter Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Scheurebe, and Traminer.

Vine Information

The hand-harvested wine took place from the end of September to mid-October 2020. The mash fermentation with destemmed and whole grapes lasted for two weeks in large wooden barrels at a maximum temperature of 25°C. The wine then remained in large wooden barrels for 12 months on full lees, without sulfur, and for a further 10 months on the fine lees. Bottling took place in August 2022, unfiltered and unfined without the addition of sulfur.

Colour

Rich, slightly cloudy apricot.

Nose

The aroma of the 2020 Gemischter Satz mit Achtung presents itself with an intense aromatic richness, with yellow fruits, ginger, elderflower, roses, anise, and distinct yeast notes at the beginning. After prolonged contact with oxygen, notes of fruit bread, walnuts, and dried figs follow. An impressive and complex aroma that captivates you, very exciting.

Palate

Creamy and fresh at the same time, it glides across the palate, with an invigorating acidity that is wonderfully integrated into its fruity texture and yeasty flavour. A wine you can practically chew and that goes very well with hearty dishes. Decant if possible and drink from large glasses, not too cold.
