Info

The cuvée is based on 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec. The vines are on average 35 years old, and the wine is aged for 12 months in small barriques.

Color

Dense purple, with violet inclusions.

Nose

Elderberry, cassis, and red currant are prominent in the first row. Fortunately, none of the fruits are characterized by a jammy sweetness, but rather a well-balanced presence. Blackberry, raspberry, and a hint of sweet cherry come to the fore alongside plum in the second row. A breeze of black pepper, along with a touch of cinnamon and a hint of oriental spice, spreads. Cedarwood, cigar box, and pale tobacco leaves then slowly build. Dark chocolate, licorice, and roasted coffee are only subtly detectable at this young stage. Acacia wood, rosemary, and juniper lend it further balsamic and ethereal nuances.

Palate

On the first sip, the fruit flows voluptuously across the palate. Its robust tannin structure quickly arrives and provides relief. The tannin, with its slightly green accents, positively enlivens the fruit and plays an active role. This strikes a balance between spicy and fruity accents. It appears taut and its aromatic development is linear. Even in the aftertaste, the fruit is initially much more intense, but does not neglect to create space for the other nuances to unfold.
