Description
When the term Brett appears in wine, it is usually a wine fault; because Brett is the abbreviation of Brettanomyces, the yeast fungus that causes wine to smell of horse stables and wet fur. But the Bret Brothers have nothing to do with all that. They are the owners of the Domaine de la Soufrandière, and in 2001 they founded a négociant business in which, in addition to a selection of wines from their own vineyards, they also offer wines from purchased grapes. In terms of quality, they are on the same level, which is due to the fact that the grapes come exclusively from old organic vines certified by Ecocert and harvested manually. In the cellar, they are vinified in the same way as the grapes from the domaine, i.e. with spontaneous fermentation and the use of seven to 20-year-old barrels. The wines in the range are from the Mâconnais and increasingly also from neighbouring Beaujolais.
