Description
Olivier Horiot is a winemaker from Les Riceys, located on the southern Aube. Les Riceys is made up of three villages and, historically, has long been famous for its red and rosé Pinot Noir rather than its Champagne. Olivier, who was educated in Dijon and Washington State, has picked up on this and today produces one of the highest rated rosés in France, as well as some outstanding champagnes. Back in 1999, he was the first in the region to produce terroir wine in a biodynamic way. He started with the two site rosés Valingrain and En Barmont, aged in wood. Then followed white and red Côteaux Champenois, until in 2004 he produced the first champagnes and very quickly made an even better name for himself. In addition to Pinot Noir, he can draw on plots with Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Meunier, and Arbanne.
