The 2015 Clos Saint Urban Rangen de Thann Gewurztraminer Grand Cru from Zind Humbrecht is captivatingly understated. Spice is a must, but the total fruit excess is naturally kept in check. Full-bodied, this is a rich, fresh and tension-filled wine with fine yet grippy tannins and lots of salt. Very intense, yet with moderate sweetness. The finish is clear, almost dry due to its minerality.
