One of the Trapet family’s historic holdings, the 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru En Ergot derives from a parcel acquired in the 1880s (during the phylloxera crisis, it sold for the lofty sum of 400 Francs per barrel) that’s the continuation of premier cru Petite Chapelle but with deeper soils. Revealing aromas of cassis, sweet plums, orange zest and spices, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a textural, gourmand profile and powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish.
