Description

Product description for Trapet Père & Fils Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 (bio)

Jean-Louis Trapet, the man who runs one of Burgundy’s most sought-after wineries, remains a true vigneron to this day. He is someone who puts his passion for Pinot Noir into the vineyard with all his energy. Founded in 1870, Domaine Trapet today owns twelve hectares, including several plots of partly ancient vines in the Grands Crus La Chapelle, Les Latricières, and – since 1919 – Le Chambertin. Le Chambertin is the house’s undisputed flagship and, in its prime, the perfect expression of the terroir, or better – as the British like to say – the sense of place. Jean-Louis Trapet and his wife Andrée turned to biodynamic farming in the mid-1990s. The many, always carefully considered steps that went with this have transformed the domaine into one of the leading wineries in Burgundy, especially in Gevrey-Chambertin.

Wine Advocate

Score: (95-97)

The 2022 Chambertin Grand Cru is another terrific wine from Trapet, unfurling in the glass with deep aromas of plums, cherries and sweet berries mingled with hints of warm spices, rose petals and coniferous forest floor. Full-bodied, ample and satiny, it’s seamless and complete, with a layered core of fruit framed by sweet, powdery tannins. It’s as impressive for its harmony as it is for its plenitude.

Vinous

Score: (95-97)

The 2022 Chambertin Grand Cru, 100% whole bunches and 60% new oak, is blessed with a complex nose: blackberry, bilberry, light estuarine scents and hints of pain d’épices. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins and a firm grip – perhaps a more demonstrative Chambertin in the making with a very sustained and grippy finish. Superb, but like the Chapelle, drinkers will require patience._x000D_
