Description
When Andrée, a native of Riquewihr, married her husband, the Burgundian winemaker Jean-Louis Trapet, they owned two wineries, his in Gevrey and her family’s in Riquewihr, Alsace. Since 2002, Andrée has regularly commuted to Riquewihr at weekends after her work in Gevrey is done. She introduced and supervises biodynamic farming there and runs it according to her standards, even though it means a lot of work for the family. When Andrée took over the estate from the family, it covered two hectares; today it covers 15.5. The estate has plots in the four Grand Cru sites Sonnenglanz, Schonenbourg, Sporen, and Schlossberg, as well as numerous sites in Kientzheim, Ammerschwihr, Riquewihr, Mittelwihr, Zellenberg, Hunawihr, and Beblenheim. In addition to the Grands Crus, dry Rieslings, Gewürztraminer with and without residual sweetness, Auxerrois, and a Crémant d’Alsace are produced.
