Wine Information

KTZM is the code for Riesling from Kientzheim. The vines come from the Riquewihr side of the village, directly below the forest at an altitude of 350 meters. The site consists of Triassic marl with fossils and plenty of granite. The vines on the 0.5-hectare plot are around 30 years old. The wine was vinified in a concrete egg.

Colour

Light to medium, clear straw yellow

Nose

The nose of this Riesling from Kientzheim is extremely inviting and appetizing. It smells of ripe apples, mirabelle plums, a hint of ivy, and lemons, along with salted lemon and a hint of apple peel. The wine appears fresh and clear, fine and elegant.

Palate

On the palate, it resembles its sister from Beblenheim in its lean, clear, and precise character. Only the acidity and minerality of the Granit are different. They are initially less electric and dazzling, but command more respect second by second. The Riesling proves to be smooth and silky with a calm flow. The fruit remains bright and is accompanied by a very subtle spiciness. This is a delicate yet haunting wine.

The 2021 Trapet R. K.T.Z.M. is code for Riesling from Kientzheim. The vines are from the Riquewihr side of Kientzheim, just below the forest at 350m of altitude. The lieu-dit of Triassic marl, with fossils, is called Rosenbourg. The nose is perfumed and subtle, with an ivy and lemon zest edge. The 2021 has a beautifully fluid, compact body, slender but smooth with a lovely, bright freshness. A very subtle wine, tender and fresh. (Dry)
