Information about the wine

Dominik Huber and Tatjana Peceric are Terroir al Limit. They make their red wine Terra de Cuques Negre, which is half Garnacha and half Cariñena, a varietal blend that couldn’t be more typical of the Catalan wine-growing region of Priorat. The grapes come from various vineyards at an altitude of around 400 meters, predominantly with slate soils, some with a certain amount of clay. The wine is aged in stainless steel and concrete; for their red wines, the two winemakers have completely abandoned wood. In this way, they aim to express the primary aromas and the terroir as authentically and unvarnished as possible.

Nose

The Terra de Cuques Negre 2021 presents itself with fresh primary aromas, with a bouquet of floral and herbal notes, as well as dark and red fruit aromas. The nose is clear and stimulating, underpinned by an earthy minerality.

Palate

This red wine reveals the fresh and sensual side of the Mediterranean. It is lean and elegant, with fine tannins and a texture somewhere between silky and velvety. The wine has a juicy acidity, is fresh and fleshy, with some licorice and a touch of bitterness on the finish, which contributes to its complexity and multi-layeredness. The wine has mineral grip, a beautiful balance and length. All in all, the Terra de Cuques Negre 2021 is an exemplary representative of the new Priorat: it is less opulent, less woody and less dense than the red wines for which the region was once known, but more elegant and sensual.
