Product description for Terroir al Limit Les Tosses 2022

Les Tosses comes from one of the highest vineyards in Torroja del Priorat. At 600 meters, 90-year-old Carignan vines are rooted in barren slate soil, exposed to the southwest sun. Yields are low; the grapes are harvested by hand, fermented whole bunches, and aged in cement. The result is a deep, dark, powerful wine with concentrated fruit, smoky and spicy notes, and a pungent acidity that provides tension and structure.

Colour

Garnet red with a dark core.

Nose

Dark and shimmering, the fruit appears like the shimmer on the summer horizon above hot asphalt. Black cherries, blackberries, and mulberries fill its basket, along with citrus zest and mild spices of allspice and licorice. We recommend pouring it into a bulbous carafe or large, expensive glasses to enjoy this youthful wine.

Palate

On the palate, the 2022 Les Tosses from Terroir al Limit is firmly woven with tight, almost powdery tannins – as fine as alabaster. Framed by firm phenolics, the transparent ruby-red fruit sparkles on the palate, fueled by ripe acidity. Deep and multi-layered with enormous resonance in the finish, powerful yet refined, with great calm and a complex structure.

The top Cariñena 2022 Les Tosses followed a similar vinification and élevage as the rest of reds from 2022, with a light and short fermentation with indigenous yeasts and eight months in concrete. It also has similar parameters as its siblings, some 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.68 and 4.6 grams of acidity. It’s a Cariñena of finesse and subtleness that’s nuanced and complex. It has notes of wild berries, flowers, an earthy touch and hints of tree bark and pine needles. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and good grip. 3,106 bottles were filled in May 2023.
