Product description for Tement Ried Hochkittenberg Terrassen Morillon 2015

The Hochkittenberg vineyard is characterized by steep slate terraces and lies between Leibnitz and Kitzeck-Sausaleine on a mountain plateau of around 450 m above sea level. Grown on fertile slate conglomerate soils with the cooling winds of the Koralpe, this site produces distinctive, minerally spicy wines with a fine interplay of acidity.

Colour

Intense straw yellow with bright reflections.

Nose

On the nose, the 2015 Morillon from Tement’s Kittenberg vineyard is initially reserved before beginning to speak with a quiet but firm voice. After delicate yeast notes and a subtle reduction, aromas of ripe citrus fruits and cedar zest emerge, followed by herbal and spicy notes. Everything is connected by the distinctive saline note that comes from the soil and fills the glass joyfully.

Palate

The first sip is incredibly disciplined, with a well-defined body, without a trace of fat. It stretches almost sinewy across the palate, yet possesses an inherent juiciness, accelerated by the fresh acidity. A fast-paced wine with a minerally salty character, subtle fruit, and a long, cool finish. A clear choice for hand-blown glasses.
