Information about the wine
This Coteaux Champenois is a pure Pinot Noir. It comes from the Grand Picou single vineyard in Sant-Agnan, from a vineyard belonging to her maternal grandmother. Suzanne Boiselle planted it in 1982 with a mass selection. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 180 meters, is characterized by limestone and flint, has a slope of 12%, and faces south. The grapes were harvested on September 20, 2019. Following this, the grapes were destemmed and crushed. After spontaneous fermentation, they macerated for 15 days and then pressed. The wine was aged on the fine lees in Burgundy pièces for 20 months. Bottling took place by hand without fining on July 16, 2021. 1,071 bottles were produced.
Color
Slightly transparent cherry red.
Nose
The red Coteaux Champenois opens with a fine reduction blended with notes of dark, crisp cherries and plums, roses, earth, root vegetables, and white pepper.
Palate
On the palate, the Pinot Noir appears delicately juicy and tranquil, with dark fruit and earthy, stony, and spicy notes. The acidity becomes more agile with every second, characterizing the Grand Picou as much as the dense, extract-rich core and the grippy tannins. A wine with power and concentration, yet always clear and precise.
