Wine Information

Philippe Gimel used Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Bourboulenc from vines over 50 years old for this white Ventoux, which presents itself like a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Just 15 hl/ha were harvested for the cuvée, whose vines are located quite high on Mont Ventoux. The wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel. In its youth, it still displays fruit, followed by spice. According to Philippe, the wine should easily age for 20 years.

Nose

The 2022 La Montagne is a fragrant southern white wine that is elegant and flavourful. On the nose, it is reminiscent of white flowers, ripe pears with vanilla, a hint of orange cream, and a tart note of grapefruit peel and anise. Equal parts ripeness and freshness seem to be the motto here.

Palate

On the palate, the 2022 La Montagne presents itself as a round, silky, charming white Rhône wine, offering a blend of fruit, spices, herbs, and rock. The cuvée has body but is not opulent. It combines ripe, white-fleshed fruit with anise and fennel seed, revealing a subtle salinity on the long finish.
