The Spektra more than skillfully depicts the possibilities of a marriage of white and red in one bottle. As a non-vintage cuvée of Zweigelt and Welschriesling, it marries Welsch from Breitenacker in Gols with Zweigelt from Jungenberg in Jois. White and red from clay and slate, partly pressed, partly fermented with whole grapes. The reds were destemmed and, after eight days on the skins, pressed and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Colour

Light cherry red, transparent and clear.

Nose

Cherries, rosehips, mallow, and hibiscus stream from the goblet like lemmings to a cliff. Added to this are notes of herbal tea, currant and blackberry leaves, and delicate citrus notes reminiscent of dried orange slices. The transparent, shimmering red fruit oscillates between floral and spicy notes, quickly drawing slightly pursed lips to the glass.

Palate

With a fruity and tart first sip, the Spektra from Martin, Andreas, and Lydia Nittnaus is a formidable thirst quencher. Bone-dry with distinctive red fruit on the palate, it is contoured by almost transparent phenolics on the tongue, which not only support its aroma but also incidentally fuel the drinking pace. The ripe acidity is structurally intertwined with the tannins, cradling it in Bacchic balance. Bottle empty – fire brigade!
