Product description for Moric Sankt Georgen “Aka Serious wine from a Gorgeous place” 2021 Roland Velich and his Moric winery have made winemaking history. It began in 2001 with the first vintage of the Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben Blaufränkisch. Since then, thanks in no small part to this wine, a Blaufränkisch style has been established, which is evident in the bottle shape. The name Moric stands for Blaufränkisch wines that stylistically lie somewhere between great Burgundies, Piedmontese, and Syrah from the Northern Rhône, yet are completely unique and possess equally great potential. The greatness of Velich’s wines, however, begins with the simple Blaufränkisch and with both the white and red house brands. These wines exemplify Velich’s claim that wines should be open-minded, inviting, fresh and juicy, complex and easy to drink. In addition to his own ideas, he also supports talented winemakers from neighboring Hungary with his Hidden Treasure Project.
