Color

Brilliant purple with plenty of density and blue reflections.

Nose

It builds with a variety of dark, juicy, and crisp berries. Sour cherry, blackberry, and elderberry stand out. Blackcurrant and mulberry round out the fruit. It displays plenty of spice from juniper and black pepper. Warm leather and licorice provide a mix of balsamic and ethereal accents. Pistachio and After Eight, i.e., dark chocolate and mint, add accents. Damp forest floor and pine needles are clearly evident.

Palate

Juicy and immediately whey-craving, it presents itself with the first sip. The fruit is crisply present and reminiscent of biting into a handful of fresh berries. It is silky and elegant. The Blaufränkisch always appears taut and astringent with delicate tannins. It challenges, inspires, and enlivens the cool vintage. Its higher level of freshness, finesse, and drinkability are exemplary. Accordingly, it also whets the appetite and thirst more than warmer vintages.
