Description
The Montenidoli winery looks back on a long tradition. It originated from an old monastery of the Knights Templar. In 1965, Sergio Muratori discovered the old monastery, recultivated the vineyards, and harvested his first wine in 1971. Today, his wife Elisabetta Faguioli continues to run the winery in his spirit. The 24 hectares of vineyards are located near San Gimignano and are surrounded by 200 hectares of forest. From the very beginning, the winery has used organic methods. Elisabetta is regarded as a pioneer in Tuscany, and renowned winemakers such as Jan Erbach from Pian del Orino describe her as a role model. The Vernaccia di San Gimignano is powerful and harmonious at the same time. A special feature are the Triassic soils, which do not occur elsewhere in the region. Extraordinary red wines of touching depth are also produced here.
Free yourself from the convenient tyranny of other people’s tasting notes! We encourage you to find out about the wines from the producers themselves by visiting their website.
