Color

Bright ruby red with light reflections and slight cloudiness.

Nose

2023 Matassa Rouge definitely needs time and plenty of air. It presents itself cool and extremely reductive. It is reminiscent of the cool scent of the forest in the morning. Earthy and ethereal aromas dominate. Damp forest floor, moss, undergrowth, and the needles of fir and spruce. Cold smoke mingles with this. Currently, only red currants can be teased out of the fruit, which is not meant to be a judgment. Fresh mushrooms and ground pepper round it out.

Palate
