Wine Information

The 2022 Cuvée Romanissa from Matassa is produced in the Côtes Catalanes in Roussillon from the Grenache and the special Grenache variant Lledoner Pelut grapes, as well as small amounts of Carignan. The grapes were harvested quite early, fermented spontaneously, without extraction, and aged in large, neutral oak barrels. Only minimal use of sulfites and light filtration took place.

Fairly transparent ruby red

Nose

The Vin de France Cuvée Romanissa has a fruity and sweet aroma with plenty of cinnamon cherries, cranberries, ripe red currants, and plums. Added to this are nuances of elderberries, herbs, blossoms, and a hint of volatile acidity, which suits the cuvée very well.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is silky and juicy. Here, too, the red fruit is ripe and sweet, charming and soft. The tannin is initially unnoticeable, but then coats the palate with a very fine layer. Here, too, the fruit is reminiscent of cinnamon cherries and red berries. Added to this are blood orange, dried herbs, and sweet licorice. The Cuvée Romanissa is harmonious, inviting, and inspired by its southern origins.
