Description
Marco de Bartoli is basically two wineries: Samperi is located in the classic Marsalla region in western Sicily and is the nucleus of the company. Bukkuram (Arabic for “Lord of Wines”) is the name of the winery on Pantelleria, the small volcanic island 100 km southwest of Sicily. Marco de Bartoli, a racing driver in his younger years, was a bundle of energy who, with his courage and commitment, contributed to the fact that wines from Sicily are held in a completely different esteem today than they were 20 years ago. Today, the children Renato, Sebastiano, and Gipi continue the winery in the spirit of their father. His motto was loosely based on Gaudi: “Originality is achieved by going back to the roots.” Thus, the winery is dedicated to the autochthonous grape varieties Grillo, Zibibbo, Catarratto, Lucido, and Pignatello.
