Wine Information

100% Syrah grown on granite, fermented in concrete tanks, and aged 50% in half-barrel oak barrels and 50% in concrete tanks. Bottled on November 17, 2021.

Colour

Muted violet-red, almost colour-dense to the rim.

Nose

The 2021 “350m” Saint Joseph Rouge appears densely woven on the nose, like a dark velvet carpet. It definitely needs oxygen contact before exuding an intense aroma of beetroot, cassis, dark plum jam, prune, cranberry compote, and candied olives. The whole is framed by aromas of tar, licorice, fine dark chocolate, and freshly brewed coffee. Plenty of stony minerality gives it structure and incredible depth.

Palate

The still youthful 2021 “350m” Saint Joseph Rouge hits the tongue dense and interwoven. The brilliant fruit on the nose delights the palate and is charming and delicately sweet. Its perfectly mature tannin and acid structure still seem youthful, and stony-salty notes pleasantly coat the palate. With a little patience, this is a wine in the glass that will present itself even more magnificently with a little ageing. Those who want to enjoy it now should decant it well in advance.
