Description
Sophie and Pierre Larmandier were among the earliest protagonists of organic and biodynamic production in Champagne. Since 1988, they have been running the house, which today has around 15 hectares, mainly in Vertus, Oger, Avize, Cramant, and Chouilly. In 2004 they converted the farm to biodynamics, but left the growers’ association because it was too rigid for them. Nevertheless, their winery is certified organic. What Sophie creates in the cellar are Blancs de Blancs with an absolutely clear and precise signature. The vines, which are up to 90 years old, are particularly helpful for this. Larmandier-Bernier ferments and vinifies the wines in tonneaux and in Stockinger barrels. A light stirring of the yeast ensures a round mouthfeel despite the strong minerality that their wines possess.
