Wine Information

The Tokaji Muscat SGN (Sélection de Grains Nobles) “Danczka” 2021 is a Muscat from the vineyard of the same name. The biodynamically produced grapes were slowly pressed and spontaneously fermented in a 2.25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrel. After twelve months, the wine was bottled at 10% alcohol, 232 grams of residual sugar, and 8.6 grams of acidity at a pH of 3.48.

: Light golden yellow

Nose

At first glance, you wouldn’t necessarily classify Tokaji Muscat as a Tokaj. The distinct Muscat flavour is more reminiscent of Pantelleria or Roussillon. And yet, the Muscat Beerenauslese has a tradition in Hungary—thankfully; Its aromas are intense, reminiscent of candied apricots, nectarines, peaches, oranges, and ginger. There are also fresh kumquat and grapefruit notes, a touch of mango, and, of course, notes of almonds, brioche, and fresh nutmeg. Above all, the wine smells clear, bright, and fresh despite its concentration.

Palate

On the palate, the 2021 Muscat »Danczka« is viscous and silky, mouth-fillingly juicy, and highly concentrated. Despite the 232 grams of residual sugar, nothing sticks. Rather, the wine is carried by a vital acidity and minerality that almost effortlessly keeps this powerful residual sugar in check. All of the aforementioned fruits are naturally present again. Added to this are hints of nutmeg, rose, and a touch of caramel, which carry the wine into a lengthy finish.
