Description
Product description for Jérôme Galeyrand Bourgogne Pinot Noir “Antonin” AOP 2022
Jérôme Galeyrand is one of Burgundy’s newcomers. He comes from the Loire and only found his way to Burgundy in the 1990s. After several years working on the wineries of Alain Burguet and Vincent Geantet, Jérôme acquired his first 0.05-hectare plot in 2001. It has since grown to 5.25 hectares. He owns no cru vineyards, but his vineyards are of the highest quality, especially in terms of the vines’ genetics, which he places particular importance on. Galeyrand’s vineyards have been certified organic since 2019. He practices intensive vineyard work so that he can then work very sparingly in the cellar. His goal is to achieve stylistic refinement and transparency as much as possible. Indeed, he produces wines that reflect his tranquil nature. These are quiet but lastingly impressive, fragrant, seductive red wines and precise, sober, and clear white wines with a high flow. Jérôme Galeyrand is a Loire native who changed careers. He came to the region in the 1990s and initially worked for Alain Burguet and Vincent Geantet before purchasing his first 0.05-hectare plot in 2001. Today, he cultivates approximately 5.25 hectares, with a particular focus on vine genetics. Jérôme Galeyrand works without technological or oenological processes, uses no industrial yeast, glue, or enzymes, and only the necessary amount of sulfur. He believes that producing a great wine requires the combination of three essential elements: great terroir, the vine’s DNA with its remarkable genetic heritage, and a winemaker who respects all of this. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, are plowed, harvested by hand, and even the lunar cycles are taken into account. Galeyrand’s vineyards have been certified organic since 2019.
Colour
Dark ruby red, bright and clear.
Nose
The nose of Jérôme Galeyrand’s Bourgogne Pinot Noir Antonin is almost bursting with the weight of fully ripe dark fruit: basketfuls of amaretto cherries, mulberries, and elderberries fill the wicker basket. In the overtone range, dark chocolate notes and lightly washed coffee beans enrich the symphony. Joyfully fruity with sparkling depth and a slightly smoky voice, it’s not difficult to top up the glass with high frequencies.
Palate
It flows super juicy over the palate, the motto crystal clear: full fruit ahead with maximum drinking pleasure. Ripe and profound, the fruits of the nose are reflected in a ruby red shimmer, accompanied by velvety tannins on the tongue. The ripe acidity extends from the initial sip to the fruity finish. This is an enormous amount of Burgundy for a small budget.
