Wine Info

VINUDILICE is a rosé born directly in the vineyard: a blend of white and red grapes, vinified according to biodynamic principles. At least ten different vines, white and red, have coexisted for over a hundred years. Its name derives from the extensive oak forests; in Latin, Leccio is called Quercus Ilex, and Ilice in Sicilian. Vinudilice means “wine of the Lecci forest.” VINUDILICE has been selected by PropositionVini as Extreme Wines. It is located in the municipality of Bronte – Etna West at an altitude of 1,200 meters. Plot: VignaBosco, the highest vineyard on Etna (and perhaps Italy)! Volcanic land characterized by a lava plateau of considerable extension; the soil is deep and rich in skeletal rock.

Vineyard Information

Harvest at the end of October, beginning of November, direct pressing of whole bunches with static and natural must clarification for approximately 30 hours, addition of indigenous yeasts, fermentation in steel tanks, minimal filtration, and no added sulphur during bottling in May. 5,000 liters yield per hectare, 3,000 bottles.

Colour

Intense rosé with violet reflections.

Nose

The Vinudilice Rosato has always been an exceptional, captivating wine; its aromas are particularly intense in 2023, tending toward a light red wine. Cool stones, graphite, then wild strawberries, figs, raspberries, and watermelon, with many herbs ranging from fresh thyme and sage to wild mint and tarragon, not to mention those subtle notes of fine light tobacco. It is striking, intense, and red-berry.

Palate

On the palate, it is concise and, due to its youth, still somewhat forbidding. Even though it has been open for a day, it still needs plenty of air, so it’s time for it to be carafed. Then it will reveal plenty of red and acidic fruit, a distinct saltiness, and fine tannins. It is at the very beginning of its development, but this is an exceptional rosé that not only challenges its taster but also the food that accompanies it. A long finish, a completely different interpretation of rosé, as full of character as the winemaker who created it.
