Wine Information

Serrat de la Plane means ‘stony plateau’ in Catalan. This is the name of the place where the vineyard is located, and the wine produced on this extreme site takes its name accordingly. Georg Meissner devotes himself to tending his two vineyards, which were originally intended to be cleared. The old Grenache vineyard is exposed to the wind and stands on dry, stony, weathered gneiss soil. Yields are around 9 hl/ha.

Colour

Muted garnet red with delicate mahogany highlights towards the rim. Oily streaks run along the rim of the glass.

Nose

The 2018 Serrat de la Plane smells of sweet black cherries, dark plum jam, candied black olives, and rosemary. Licorice, cedarwood, tobacco, and incense also feature. A delicate touch of green bell pepper and rosemary lends this delightful wine a stimulatingly fresh, delicately tart component.

Palate

On the tongue, it presents itself as a fleshy, juicy wine, interwoven with precise and pronounced tannins and an invigorating acidity. Authentic Grenache at its best! The cuisine that accompanies it can be intense and rich.
