Description
Product description for Franz Keller Kirchberg Oberrotweil Spätburgunder GG 2022
Wine Information
This wine comes from the Oberrotweiler Kirchberg, a south-west-facing vineyard site with light, chalky volcanic gravel, planted with German clones in 1975 and 1982. It was fermented spontaneously to 1.2 grams of residual sugar. It was aged for 18 months in French barriques with 40% new wood. The 2022 vintage is only available in magnums. It is the last vintage of this wine.
Colour
Transparent cherry red
Nose
The nose of the Kirchberg is open and inviting, with ripe, dark cherry fruit, a hint of cinnamon, some graphite, and crushed rock. Overlying notes include marshmallow and wild rose.
Palate
On the palate, this Pinot Noir brings a generous dose of hedonism into play. Here, too, there’s plenty of juicy, ripe dark cherry with cinnamon. At the same time, the wine appears sensitive, delicate, crystalline, and already open and delicious with its cool juice and inner warmth, polished tannins, light grip, and refined acidity.
