Wine Information

Mannaberg is a wine characterized by a unique terroir. The vines grow on loess, partly on dolomite, in a very hot, dry, and extremely steep location. The yield is very low, and the berries are small and concentrated. They are sometimes more reminiscent of elderberries. The vineyard contains many southern herbs, similar to those found in the garrigue, such as thyme, rosemary, lavender, juniper, and marjoram.

Colour

The wine has a garnet red colour with mahogany highlights towards the rim.

Nose

The 2020 Mannaberg is beautifully ripe with delicate fruit of cranberries, plums, and figs. There are also distinct herbal notes from the vineyard, reminiscent of rosemary, thyme, lavender, juniper, and marjoram. These aromas are complemented by notes of roasted hazelnuts, nougat, leather, incense, and fine tobacco. The wine combines morbid charm with impressive smoky minerality and a sophisticated class.

Palate

On the palate, the wine reveals a delicate fruity sweetness. The invigorating acidity interplays with the sweetness and salty minerality. It offers a pronounced yet ripe tannin structure. This exciting wine, which exudes a certain sensuality due to its maturity, only requires that you get involved. It pairs particularly well with dishes with intense sauces and autumnal influences. Decant and enjoy slightly chilled from Burgundy glasses.
