About the wine

100% Malbec with a yield of 45 hl/ha from micro-plots located at an altitude of 350 meters in the Clos with clay-limestone soils including Tertiary siderolitic limestone with a high iron content and Jurassic Kimmerdige limestone with a high fossil presence. After hand-harvesting, the grapes were destemmed, fermented spontaneously, gently extracted, macerated for a long time, and sulfur-free vinification. Aging took place in a concrete cuvée. No clarification or filtration. No sulfur was added.

Color

Medium to deep purple.

Nose

This Malbec, called K-or, already contains all the attributes for which a typical Cahors Malbec is known. It smells lightly of violets and juniper, then of blackberries, mulberries, and plums, with a hint of sour cherry and cassis. Added to this are hints of tar and lemon zest, rock, earth, and undergrowth. Warm notes are also found, but above all, dark and crisp ones.

Palate

On the palate, the wine presents itself in its openness with a cool elegance. Here, too, you have this predominantly dark, crisp, ripe but cool fruit, along with rock and earth. The Malbec appears juicy, pleasantly mouthwateringly acidic and slightly salty, with grippy tannins and a minerality that provides tension and energy. You could let it sit for a while, but with this tension, it’s actually a lot of fun right now, especially since the lack of added sulfur ensures great openness.
