About the wine

100% Malbec with a yield of 35 hl/ha from micro-plots located at an altitude of 350 meters in a clos with siderolithic clay-limestone soils dating back to the Tertiary period, which have a high iron content. After hand-harvesting, the wine was destemmed, fermented spontaneously, gently extracted, macerated for a long time, and sulfur-free vinification. Aging took place in 20 and 30 hl oak barrels on the fine lees for 24 months. No clarification or filtration. The final sulfur addition results in a total sulfur content of 20 mg/l.

Color

Medium-intense garnet red.

Nose

A Malbec of cool elegance and restraint, yet still evident in its depth. It has a subtle yet penetrating aroma of red and black currants, goji berries and sour cherries, some blood orange zest and cranberries, juniper, anise, pepper, and a few violets. Added to this are hints of black olives in brine and some aged game.

Palate

On the palate, the K-lys reveals its origins at an altitude with a high iron content. This is a Cahors with depth, which remains quite reserved at this point, with air and space (in the carafe), but gradually emerges. Then it reveals its fine tannins, which have just the right grip, along with hints of blood and rust, which are connected to the iron content of the soil. It still seems slightly distant, but instead well-trained, muscular and lean, juicy and slightly salty. A cool beauty with deep minerality and plenty of energy.
