Wine Information
The Rosso is the classic and flagship wine of Vanni Nizzoli. It is a traditional Lambrusco, produced with the local varieties Lambrusco Grasparossa (75 to 80%), Malbo Gentile, and Marzemino. The vines, over 30 years old, come from clayey soils rich in silica. After being hand-picked into small crates, the grapes were destemmed and fermented on the skins for ten days in old oak and chestnut barrels. This was followed by aging in cement for six months. Finally, the wine was bottled with unfermented juice for the second fermentation. The wine rested on its lees for eight months. There was no fining, no filtering, no added sulfur, and no dosage. The total sulphur content is less than 10 mg.

Nose
This Lambrusco opens with a reductive note, complete with aromas of crackers. A gentle swirl in the glass helps, and then the first fruit aromas of elderberries and blackberries break through. They are accompanied by herbs, forest floor, damp moss, undergrowth, and a slightly sweet note of fresh yeast. This is country wine in the most original definition of the word.
Palate
This rural tartness and, in a wonderful and honest way, down-to-earth character is evident in the Cinque Campi Rosso on the palate. The wine is dry. It offers structure and an almost rough texture, aromas of dark fruits, seeds, herbs, and dry earth. The clear tension, the punch of the fresh acidity, and the minerality combine to create juice and freshness, which is further supported by the lively perlage. This is a real companion on any table where a good snack or rustic Italian cuisine is served.
